The desire of 013 Poppodium

As the largest music venue in the Netherlands013 offer its visitors a complete experience: from the moment ticket sales start until after a concert or club night. Previously, it took the marketing team a lot of time and energy to create emails, collect information and adjust content per event. The goal was therefore clear: a solution that allowed communication to be automated, error-free and yet personalized, fully in line with the unique look and feel of each event.

Recognizable style per event

Each show on 013's website has its own color and image. These visual elements are also used in communications, so that each event is instantly recognizable. Through an XML feed, retrieved via a web service, all event information, such as artist, date, time, venue, ticket price, color and header image, is automatically loaded into Ternair Campaign. The unique event ID from the URL is the key here.

The result: emails that exactly match the look and feel of the event, without an employee having to manually copy information.

The link to the website ensures that data is constantly updated. Every five minutes it checks whether new events have been added or existing ones changed. Ticket information and relevant data is also retrieved automatically. This allows 013 to communicate quickly and specifically in an automated way.

Four types of automated mailings

013 uses Ternair Campaign for four main mailing types that together support the visitor's entire customer journey:

- Service mails

  • 5 days in advance: practical service email with relevant event information.

  • 1 day before start: practical service email with relevant event information only to attendees who did not receive the earlier email due to purchasing tickets less than 5 days in advance.

  • 1 day after the event: thank you email with survey linked to a personalized event page.

- On-sale alerts

Automatic emails to interested parties about 10 minutes before ticket sales start. With Scriban, a snapshot block even calculates the number of minutes until the sale.

- Pre-sale mails

Exclusive invitations to a select group of fans (e.g., loyal visitors or genre enthusiasts), sent before regular ticket sales.

- Weekly newsletter

A flexible template populated via RSS and event feed. Employees can easily drag and drop current events into the mail and format them with pre-arranged snippets.

Working efficiently and error-free with templates

Templates have been developed for all mail types in which employees only need to enter the event ID. All relevant data and visuals are then automatically retrieved. This saves time, eliminates errors and ensures consistent, attractive communications that fully reflect the look and feel of each event.

Collaboration and development

The cooperation between 013 and Ternair is characterized by a pragmatic approach: quick connection, testing and optimization. For technical challenges, such as the correct loading of countdowns or the combination of different feeds, customized solutions have been set up.

Now that the basics are in place, 013 is looking ahead. Consider further personalization based on visitor behavior (such as genres visited or purchase history). In this way, communication can become even more relevant and valuable to the visitor.
