One of the best-known parts of Springer Nature in the Netherlands, Bohn Stafleu van Loghum (BSL) was in need of a good technology for client authentication and authorization. Using the Ternair Marketing Cloud, BSL has a single central data platform that enables the company to quickly and effectively unlock protected content on its various Web sites for registered users.
In recent years, Springer Nature has been moving strongly in the direction of online, in the form of e-learning and online magazines, as well as on unlocking old and new content through target group-specific bundles. In that process, a twofold need arose: a good technique for authentication and authorization of customers and adequate way to collect management information and serve target groups in a targeted way.
Real-time unlocking of data
In 2009, one of Springer Nature's best-known divisions in the Netherlands, Bohn Stafleu van Loghum, initiated the transition to online with the construction of a platform, "MijnBSL. Ternair has deployed the Ternair Marketing Cloud to set up the platform that enables subscriptions from SAP to be accessed real-time, online within BSL's web sites and portals. The system makes it easy to set up decision rules for each web site, e-mail alerts and dynamic web forms.
In order to determine who should have access to specific content and at what time, customer and subscription data must be available in real time. With Ternair, data from back-office customer systems can be accessed in "MyWebsite" environments in a short period of time. User authentication and authorization takes place via web services. Based on current customer profiles, the website is then presented to the visitor in a customized way.
